The Indian board (BCCI) has decided against sending Indian cricket teams to the 2010 Asian Games, which will be held in China in November.

Twenty20 cricket is set to make its debut at the event, which had been expected to feature hosts China, the four Asian Test-playing nations along with Afghanistan, Oman and the United Arab Emirates in the men’s event.

“We would not be able to send our team, both men and women, for the Asian Games in China because of international commitments,” BCCI chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty was quoted in the Indian media as saying.

“We have communicated the same to the Indian Olympic Association,” he added.

The games are scheduled to be held from 12th to 27th November, around the same time that India will be hosting New Zealand for a tour that includes three Tests and five One-Day Internationals.

Pakistan will be hosting South Africa and Sri Lanka are also in action in November, and the BCCI’s decision has disappointed the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
